• Add a strong verb and a quality adjective to each sentence from the board.  You’ll need to finish the last sentence.  Choose two to rewrite with a prepositional opener.
• Create an outline for an essay about Tree Frogs from the source provided*
• Write 5 paragraph (1 intro, 3 body, 1 conclusion) essay from your outline on Tree Frogs*
• 2nd or 3rd draft of narrative summary (Choose “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” OR “Rikki-tikki-tavi” OR “The Rescue of Maid Marian") Many of you have completed this assignment.

* Some of the class was given extra time to complete previous assignments and are not required to complete this assignment.

• Add an introductory and concluding paragraph to your Ulysses S. Grant essay

 

Note:  The class has now been introduced to all the structures necessary to write an essay or any other piece of non-fiction writing.  The rest of the year we will be focusing on style.  This includes not sounding like your source, sequencing, and flow.
